European Studies Association
Over 25 years, The European Studies Association aims to establish competent leaders by building linkages that will hone its members towards being socially aware and globally competitive.
Our mission is to provide the venue, materials and exposure for our members that strive to promote awareness, knowledge, learning, and application of significant national and global issues that contribute to self-development and national progress.
And adhering to the Lasallian standard of excellence and values of Faith, Service, and Communion, the Association is committed to become a prime mover in fostering local and global understanding through academic, cultural, and social education. It is also committed to shaping its members into becoming global citizens who are competent, critical and culturally sensitive, and socially responsible.
Model European Parliament
The European Union is one of the most relevant regional organizations in today’s global society, and one of their cornerstone processes is their parliament. This year, the European Studies Association (ESA) will organize the first ever Model European Parliament (MEP) in the Philippines. Similar to a Model United Nations conference, it is a one-day Academic Simulation which will allow students to debate and discuss in committee and plenary sessions representing actual members and political parties of the European Parliament. Student aged 16-25 years old will have a chance to participate as members of a simulated European Parliament committee and plenary sessions. This will serve as an opportunity for them to debate and discuss regarding solutions towards relevant EU issues.
The Vision
The Model European Parliament (MEP) is oriented towards producing globally empowered youth leaders hailing from different disciplines. It aims to serve as an avenue for students to practice their research, writing, speaking, and negotiating skills with other students. The conference also aims to promote the awareness of regional issues within the European Union, furthering the critical thinking skills of the students with regards to International Relations. The Central Committee aims to foster camaraderie and leadership in the process of organizing a successful MEP.
